Breast Lifting
Breast lift surgery, or mastopexy, is a surgical procedure to alter your breasts’ shape.
Breast lift surgery will help a woman get the breast appearance she’s always wanted to have.
Breast lift surgery, after giving birth and breastfeeding process, creates a better breast shape. Pregnancy can lead to some unpleasant breast changes, often leaving them stretched and sagging. The surgery, performed with or without implants, can help reverse these changes and restore a more aesthetically pleasing look.
After significant weight loss, the surgery enhances the contour of the breast. Losing weight also involves losing volume in the breast. Breast lift surgery will help restore a more balanced, youthful breast shape by removing excess skin.
While the only way to determine whether the breast lift surgery is right for you is to consult with a trained plastic surgeon, there are a few questions you can ask yourself to get a general idea of how a breast lift surgery could change your breast shape. Those questions may include;
- Do my nipples seem to point downward?
- Does the areola remain below the crease underneath my breast due to sagging?
- Am I happy with my breast size when wearing a bra?
- Are my breasts asymmetrical or unusually shaped?

BREAST LIFT TECHNIQUES
The circumareolar breast lift surgery is carried out by reducing the size of the areola to around 1.5 inches in diameter at first. Then the excess skin around the areola is separated from the outer layer. The areola is slid into position. The skin surrounding the areola is closed like a purse string. Extra sutures are positioned to close the incision correctly.
The tissue around the areola becomes puckered and swollen during the first few weeks of surgery, and the breasts are tight and very perky. The skin flatters with time, and the breasts soften, taking on a pleasant, natural look.
Females of mild sagging, but often benefiting from a breast lift, are strong candidates for a Peri-Areolar lift. This technique includes a circular incision that runs around the edge of the areola. Donut lift is usually performed in combination with breast augmentation, as in the crescent lift. This surgery can also be effective in helping reduce areola size. The resulting scar follows the edge of the areola
For people with mild to moderate breast ptosis, the vertical breast raise procedure is preferred. A central, vertical key-hole incision is performed using this technique. To form the breast, the deep layer of the breast tissue is often stitched together. The areola is ultimately slid into a higher position. The skin is closed around the areola and down the breast center
The inverted T lift is perfect for those with moderate to severe breast sagging. For women with considerable excess breast skin, for example, who have lost excessive weight or suffer extreme breast deflation following pregnancy and breastfeeding, this procedure is especially useful.
Your cosmetic surgeon may also use this technique if you are having a breast lift combined with breast reduction.
Cosmetic surgeons can use the crescent lift technique to fix a small amount of sagging. It involves a slight incision extending halfway along the upper half of the edge of the areola. A crescent lift is often performed with breast augmentation.
F.A.Q.
Breast augmentation is done to improve or enlarge the breast. A breast lift surgery is done to raise the breast back into the standard position. Besides, a breast lift and breast augmentation surgery are often performed together.
A Circumareolar Mastopexy or Donut lift is the breast lift surgery with the smallest scar. A surgical scar is done just around the areola or nipple’s outer area.
It depends on the technique used. However, techniques that generally maintain breastfeeding are preferred. Also, the pregnancy affects the breast’s form and, the size of the operation’s date must be decided by the extent of the breast’s adjustments before pregnancy.
A half-circular incision on the top of the areola requires a crescent lift. A Vertical Lift may include an incision around the areola and a vertical incision to the breast’s base.
If asymmetry exists before the operation, breast lift surgery may create an even, symmetrical breast shape through surgery alone or in conjunction with augmentation.
Quite frequently, the breast lift procedure involves areola reduction.
